Bully by Penelope Douglas - Book Review
Hello friends and lovers!
My book review blog posts have slowed down a bit, because of my release month in April, but I’ll start these back up again.
Penelope Douglas is a phenomenal romance writer and my love for her books began with Birthday Girl. I need to read all of her books. My next series is going to be the Kill Switch series.
Jared and Tate grew up together, they were best friends, neighbors, they even shared a window view. As you can tell by the title this type of book isn’t going to be for everyone. Jared is a bully, a complete asshole to Tate when he returns one summer, where he turned his humanity switch off (TVD fans?).
Tate was bullied so badly that she leaves for a year and goes to France. Heck, that sounds nice.
Anyway! The story itself is great, we do find out why Jared bullied her all those years and all it would have taken was communication, but they are teens so who communicates effectively at that age? I was along for the ride. I hated his friend Maddoc and at times I was upset with Tate, but the moment they do get together it was fireworks 💥 and I am all here for that built up tension of hate between the two.
I did like seeing Tate grow confidently in herself, even if it did take a while. I like character growth and it was there for me.
remember to read trigger warnings and if you’re affected by bully type books, don’t read it. You’ll not like it. Remember this is fiction! Enjoy!
