Seriously though, Good Reads is amazing and it allows me to keep tabs on my book review notes. (See below!)

Hello friends and lovers!

I’m back with my first book review of 2021! Sorry for the silence on these, I took a couple weeks off work for the holidays and since I mostly listen to audiobooks while I work, my reading slacked off.

Well, not slacked off.

I actually finished my fourth draft and am well into editing it. But that info can be found in this post here, if you want more current details on my WIP.

Griffin and Luca, their relationship is literal goals! I’ve never said that about book relationships, but this one had me crying from the get go. I was literally swiffering dust as I listened to this and started crying like a baby. Mind you, I was not even thirty minutes into listening to the damn story.

One thing you should know about me, I love a good story that can make me cry, so this has earned a five star for my ratings. It was hilarious, the relationship between Luca and Doc, it was very sweet and fatherly. Griffen and Luca had been pen pals for an entire decade by the time they reconnected.

Puts a whole new meaning to flat Stanley… anyone? (crickets)

I enjoyed the realistic aspect of how the two connected and shared so much growing up as kids, that they ended up having such a deep connection, so it only made sense that they connected on a level that most people don’t really have the chance to understand. It truly was true love.

They were best friends to lovers. Super heartwarming and sweet. Their differences in lifestyle, one would think would make them collide, but I felt like it made them grow closer to one another, and their shared experiences too.

I highly recommend this book for all the steam, romance, and comedic relief it provides. Also, it ripped me apart a few times, but I was sown back together over and over again. Thank you Vi and Penelope for the beautiful story between the American and British pen pal, which was much needed.

What I Enjoyed:

  • Character development between Luca and Doc, Doc and Griffen, Griffen and Luca. Vi and Penelope killed it with their development. Honestly, they are quickly becoming one of my top two favorites. (Number one is Jessica Hawkins).

  • Their steamy love letters to one another was so sweet, nostalgic, and honestly… I want to write letters to my husband even if we live under the safe roof.

Rating: 💋💋💋💋💋/ 5

Steamy Rating: 💋💋💋💋/ 5

  • A solid 4, it is really steamy and sweet! I reserve my fives for really flipping dirty books, ones that shock the hell out of me!
