How to Inspire Your Next Bestseller With This Strategy

Hello friends and lovers!

You’re stuck on a novel idea, or you need inspiration, but either way you’ve been scrolling through Pinterest, Google, and every hidden nook of the web to come up with some type of best selling idea. Yet, you’ve landed here on my page wondering, does this girl really know what she’s talking about? I’m no expert, but I am an expert in how to spark inspiration for myself, which is what I want to help you do by sharing how I find my own inspiration.

As authors we often ponder how we come up with ideas. Is it about sitting at your desk, deep in thought, tapping a motivational-pen at your head until an idea pops up?

Maybe that works for some. For me, I love being inspired. I need that spark to run through me and jolt me in the brain with something new, something fresh, or maybe I just need something to kick start creativity for a chapter or two.

Don’t get me wrong, this blog post isn’t supposed to give you steps on how to make the next best selling novel, this is to help you spark inspiration so you can start writing what you want.

Below are my bullet points of how I come up with new story ideas. That plus, I use my Scrivener app to keep all stories and notes organized. (I’ll have a future post on that soon)

  • Writing Prompts

    • This is the fastest way for me to begin writing for inspiration. Sometimes putting my WIP on pause for a day or two so I can write through some prompts is pretty amazing.

    • I have a writing prompts Pinterest board that you would enjoy, if this is your kind of thing. Click here.

      • While you’re at it, you should follow me on Pinterest!

    • The short stories I have shared in my blog were created because of a writing prompt. Click below to read:

  • Listening to Music

    • The type that pulls at your heartstrings. Well, my heartstrings anyway. The Beatles, Ryan Adams, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, movie soundtracks, etc…

    • Take a moment to put life on pause, listen to the lyrics of the song 🎧 and I swear something will jolt your creativity, so be prepared to write your ideas into a journal.

  • Books

    • Audiobooks are usually what I listen to and sometimes the narrator voice helps to spark my inspiration. It’s hard not to fall in love with Sebastian York’s deliciously warm yet raspy voice.

  • Watching Movies/Shows

    • Whether it is action, horror, dramas or romantic sometimes it is dialogue within a character that will spark an idea.

    • I don’t know about you, but ever since I began to write, I see movies/shows differently now. I notice every detail in how someone moves when they speak during conversation. I take note of what they are saying and why. How did it move the plot along? Etc…

Again, these are things that help to boost my creativity and I hope you found it helpful. Be sure to connect me with me via social media, follow me on there if you found this article helpful!
