How to Sit Your Ass Down to Write
Hello friends and lovers!
Today’s topic is one that has been requested by quite a few of you over instagram.
How does one sit their ass down to write? It’s simple. DO IT!
Don’t have any ideas and that’s why you can’t sit down? JUST SIT DOWN!
We’re creatures of habit. The minimum you can do is to make a habit of at least scheduling sit down time to write and show up every single time. If you can do that consistently, you’ve succeeded.
I don’t mean to sound like a hard ass in the least, but sometimes being direct can help get the message across!
My ass is sitting down, now what?
Great! So you’ve made it a habit to sit down. Write.
Don’t know what to write? Here’s a list of writing topics:
Grocery List!
Something interesting you saw today.
Is there drama going on around you?
The last time you ease dropped on conversation, what happened?
Why do you feel stuck in your writing?
Write about the strongest emotion you experience daily.
When was the last time you apologized?
Look to your right, what do you see? Write it in detail, give it a story.
What’s your favorite TV show and why?
Jot down ideas of stories you’d like to write.
What do your favorite characters look like?
What is your favorite genre to write in and why?
Write a description of your day job versus what they make you do.
Write a blog post with tips on who you’d like to help!
My point is, if you show up each time and begin to write, whether it’s as simple as a to do list, or writing your feelings down, you are still showing up to do the work. These are ideas to get your brain going, because chances are if you read through the list you had an answer to at least one prompt.
I have a blog post where I help you create a writing schedule. Click here to see that.
If you’re serious about being a writer, you will make the time for it, no excuses.
