The Exception - by Sandi Lynn Book Review
SYNOPSIS:
Jillian: I grew up wealthy and was given everything my parents wanted me to have. After years of being molded into the perfect daughter, I played a role. I was only what they wanted me to be. My parents controlled everything. My life, my friends, my career, and even the man I was supposed to marry. When I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself, the person looking back was a total stranger. Leaving my fiancé at the altar on my wedding day was the start of a journey I embarked on in search of the person that I truly was. I would disappear, vanish, and start a new life where, little by little, I would unmold the person everybody thought I was. I would live in a man-free zone for as long as my journey took me. NO EXCEPTIONS. Until I met a man with dark hair, a business suit, smoldering eyes, and a face like a god—Drew Westbrook. Drew: I had everything I wanted in life. Money, looks, success, and beautiful women by my side at all times. Some of these women stayed around for a while and some left quickly. I was all for a relationship as long as she wasn’t looking for a ring or wanting to hear the words “I do.” I liked the way I lived my life and I was content. Plenty of friends, loving parents, and a successful billion-dollar company were all I needed to feel complete. NO EXCEPTIONS. Until the day a brown-haired, blue-eyed beauty sat down next to me on an airplane and, suddenly, everything that mattered to me didn’t seem to matter anymore. She captivated me and I wanted her. All of her. But her journey didn’t include me and I was left feeling something I’d never felt before: incomplete.
Hello friends and lovers,
Jillian and Drew. What couldn’t I say about this couple’s love story? It had me from the beginning when Jillian fled from her life to start fresh. This story is all about how fate and destiny brings this couple together. The universe begs for them to be together.
One of my all time favorite movies is Serendipity, starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack. The whole premise of the story is their instant first love connection and how destiny brought them together years later. (Fun fact, l went to eat a delicious dessert at Serendipity in NYC! Best and biggest dessert I ever ate ❤️).
Below are highlights of what u liked and didn’t like. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
What I Enjoyed:
Drew and Jillian have a very destiny type romance. Fate brings them together in more ways than one. I’m a sucker for soulmates! What can I say? We need more of these type of stories.
Jillian is incredibly bright and I enjoyed the voice that Sandi Lynn created for her. She’s strong in her own way and I enjoyed seeing her character grow throughout the book.
Drew, he is quite the handsome guy and so romantic with Jillian. He’s a swoon worthy guy and I could see how Jillian is The Exception to the rule. We are all someone’s exception, after all.
There was always sexual tension between the two characters, which I absolutely love. It makes for a worth while read when they finally get together!
What I Didn’t Like:
There isn’t much that I could dislike about this book.
If I could tweak one thing it would be so extend the sex scenes a bit more. I rated this a 5/5 on steaminess, because it is. I think I’m just too greedy and want more when it comes to Jillian and Drew!
Grant. He is a d-bag. I get it! However, I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of him in the beginning. It wouldn’t alter the story in any way, just would be nice to see that extra detail.
Rating: 💋💋💋💋💋/ 5
I’m giving this one a full five stars. I’m a sucker for fate/destiny type stories. This felt more so real and not forced, which I like. The characters didn’t open believe in fate, it just happened.
Steamy Rating: 💋💋💋💋💋/ 5
